8"x10" Art Show & Competition!

May 4^th - May 25^th, at Jerry’s Artarama,

The Artist’s Supplier and Resource, located at 6010 N IH-35, Exit 238A, announces the 5^th annual 2013 Austin Middle School 8x10 Arts Show & Competition!

The Austin area’s 6^th, 7^th and 8^th grade art students are cordially invited to participate in a show and competition of their work in the following categories:  (i) painting,
(ii) drawing, (iii) printmaking, (iv) sculpture, and (v) mixed media.  The work will be judged by area gallery directors, artists, and other art professionals. 

Prizes will be awarded at a reception and awards ceremony – a pizza party for students, friends and families. The reception and awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 5^th,
from 3-5 pm, at Jerry’s, and the artwork will be on display until May 25^th.

ALL work must be done in the 8” x 10” (including mats) format (i.e.: 8x10 canvases, Bristol board, sculpture, etc) and be able to be displayed standing on ledge molding.  Jerry’s has 8x10 canvases available for participants. No frames or glass, please.

This is a fantastic opportunity for your students to be exposed to the art of their peers, compete for prizes, and have their work appear in a public venue.

Teachers can enter more than one piece of work for a student, but no more than 50 total entries from any one school. 

There is no fee for this competition, and the deadline for submission is
5 p.m., Friday, May 3rd^th, at Jerry’s

Judging will be Saturday, May 4^th

IMPORTANT:  Teachers are asked to help place their students’ work that day and PLEASE have it labeled on the back with:

• Student’s Name, Grade, and Age
• Medium, Title, and Sale Price or NFS (not for sale) [all sales proceeds go to the students]
• Name of School
• Teacher’s Name, Contact Phone Number, and e-mail

Teachers must pick up their students’ work by Saturday, May 25^th.
