The cheapest prices on art supplies. Guaranteed.

In 2010, we (Jerry's Artarama) changed all of our prices so that they were the lowest in the country. We knew about the change, but we wanted to find a way to show our current customers and potential future customers that it's true, that it's not just a tagline. And we wanted to do it in a way that was as straightforward as possible and didn't allow for any tricks or cleverness.

So last week, we walked through Jerry's and picked 8 of our most popular items and rung them up.

We visited Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Asel Art and the UT Co-op Art Store and bought the same items from each store (the only exception was Asel did not carry the Galeria acrylic, so we only bought 7 items from them). This is what we ended up with:

We think the difference is clear and actually pretty surprising - our shopping trip at Jerry's cost HALF of what we spent at Michaels for the EXACT SAME supplies. Even despite sales and discounts, Jerry's was still notably less expensive than all four stores.

The items we bought were:
Prismacolor Art Marker
Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencil
Winsor & Newton Art Masking Fluid
Strathmore Sketch Pad (9"x12")
Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylic (Titanium White, 200ml)
Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic (Titanium White, 2oz.)
Winsor & Newton Winton Oil Color (Titanium White, 2oz.)
Faber-Castell PITT Pen 4 pack

We hope that next time you're hunting down art supplies in Austin, you'll think of us. We know art supplies can get expensive and that "starving artist" isn't always just a cliché, so we are doing what we can to keep our prices reasonable and affordable and to keep the creativity that Austin is known for flowing. Keep creating!
