D.K. Richardson's Pastel Portrait Workshop

Cow Dog by Denise Beard
A recent student of one of D.K. (Deb) Richardson's pastel workshops sent over a nice email, which we wanted to share. We also wanted to say congratulations to Denise, who won 1st Place at the New Braunfels Art League Gallery with her pastel portrait of a good-looking dog. Congrats, Denise!

She also chronicled her experience with Deb's workshop on her blog. You can see step-by-step some of the skills that she learned by clicking here.

Her email to Deb:

Deb,
I won my first 1st place ribbon tonight for a pastel. It was at the Texas Show at the New Braunfels Art League Gallery.

I painted Cow Dog using the techniques learned in your workshop, so thank you very much!!

As I was heading to hang the ribbon on the painting, the painting was being whisked to the desk to be sold to a lady from Austin!!! Jubilation and disappointment in one fell swoop. I wanted to just take in the idea of a blue ribbon hanging on one of my paintings for awhile---that will be occurring in my imagination.

Just wanted to share my good news.
Have a great evening. Denise Beard

D.K. will be offering another Pastel Portrait workshop in September. Sign up now at the store and be on your way to your first blue ribbon painting!
